Doneil Henry out for the season according to Gary Bowyer
|
Apparently after suffering a hamstring injury today. Feel for the lad, has been on the sidelines since he came to us in January and was just starting to get some decent playing time under his belt.
Also puts a tighter noose around Big Sam's neck when it comes to keeping CB's fit. He now has to hope that Collins/Reid remain fit for the remainder of the season as I pointed out previously they have missed 15-16 full/partial games between them this year through various knocks

Johnson was picked because Sir Trev took over and could see a player and put him straight in. I like to think if he took over tonight he would do the same with the likes of Poyet & Oxford.

Glenn JOHNSON Was pressing for a place as a central defender He was also regarded as a quality fullback by our coaching staff We had a problem with erratic to poor quality displays by our first team full backs.
And the rest is history

Johnsons career started because we were abysmal and desierate and he was doing brilliantly in loan (at Millwall I think)
To be fair, he came in and was excellent for us

It has been unfortunate that Poyet, Burke & Oxford have all been injured at periods where an opportunity might have been there for them. Given the results when Kouyate has gone to centre back surely next time we are short if the young guys are injured then Demel or OBrien should fill in and we keep our big man in midfield. I would like to see Burke and or Oxford given some minutes soon so we can take a view on whether they may be able to play a bit more next season. If so we might save on buying another and can put the money elsewhere. Same with Poyet. We might play him and think he needs another season of being on loan or is ready to play a bit next season. Whether Sam would be interested in forward planning is MOOT though.

Oh, is that why they weren't on the bench on Saturday?
I was away, so don't know.

Both Burke and Oxford could be given some time on the pitch.
I think Johnson got his chance because the other defenders were shit rather than injured.

I'd start to introduce Oxford. Season's over except for the prize money. Have him on the bench, give him ten minutes here and there when the game is already lost or won, as well as cover.
Didn't Glenn Johnson's career start a bit like that, thrown into the deep end because of injuries?

Confirmed tonight Tomkins needs op on shoulder after dislocation. 12 week rehablitation likely, so not a happy outcome at all. Let's hope he makes a full recovery before the pre-season then.

Pretty simple if you believe the hype that he can get himself a new contract if we do well in the 9 remaining games.
He's just lost 2 centrebacks for the rest of the season Reid/Collins have missed games all year with numerous knocks, so the chances of them remaining fit for the last 9 games is bleak at best
The last 2 games Kouyate has been moved from midfield to the back 4 we've conceded 7 goals.
Thus IMHO the noose has further tightened around his neck because I wouldn't be surprised to see O'Brien have to play in there before the seasons done.

"How the fuck is the original post blaming Allardyce for anything?????
I've stated the noose will tighten further around his neck because he's now lost another central defender and we haven't been able to keep them fit all year and apparently these remaining 9 games are supposed to be crucial for him."
Why would the noose tighten if it's not his fault?
